The Ryder Cup Begins

Europe begin their effort to win a fourth straight Ryder Cup golf title this afternoon.

Their trophy defence away to the USA at Hazeltine starts with the foursomes - where players on each team take alternate shots. American two-time major winner Johnny Miller says Europe have assembled one of their "worst" teams in years and some other pundits agree. Europe captain Darren Clarke has rejected any criticism of his team.
