Giving GPs access to consultants schedules could help reduce waiting times at Irish Hospitals.

International experts claim a new appointment system has already cut times in several other cash-strapped countries like Serbia. The programme works by allowing doctors see when surgeons are free, before booking appointments. Wexford Fine Gael TD Michael Darcy likes the idea but he says a lot needs to be done with the bureaucracy that is weighing down the Irish health system.
