Victims of coercive control are being advised to keep track of all incidents, including text messages and emails.
The offence came into effect in January, and gardai are encouraging victims to report the problem to them. Coercive control occurs when a current or ex-partner knowingly and persistently engages in behaviour that is controlling or intimidating.
