Eamon gilmore has support of wexford mayor
The Mayor of Wexford, Labour's George Lawlor, has come out in support of his party's leader Eamon Gilmore. It follows comments by Tipperary-based Labour MEP Phil Prendergast that Mr Gilmore should step aside and that Minister Joan Burton should replace him as leader of the party. Councillor Lawlor has criticised the comments saying the MEP should focus more on her own campaign rather than undermining the leader of a party during the middle of an election. He's pointed to Phil Prendergast fairing badly in a recent opinion poll as a possible reason for the comments.
