Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne has announced €3 million in funding for a new fire station in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, as part of a record €328.5 million National Fire Services Capital Programme.
This funding aims to modernize fire and emergency services nationwide, including a €2.4 million allocation for new equipment such as a water tanker and fire appliances.
This investment brings the total allocated to Wexford's fire services to €5.4 million, building on previous funding for stations in New Ross and Gorey.
Minister Browne emphasized that the programme is vital for ensuring fire services are equipped to respond to evolving risks like severe weather, wildfires, and urban growth, strengthening public safety in Wexford and across Ireland.
