A merger of the Labour party and the Social Democrats has been mooted by Brendan Howlin.
The Labour party leader on a visit to Limerick this week said he would be very happy to talk to the Social Democrats because of both party's shared value system. Labour has seven seats in the Dail while the Social democrats have two, one of them former labour member Roisin Shortall .
