Howlin says labour will not depend on lowry to support government
A Labour Party Minister says they will not depend on Michael Lowry to prop up a government. The party is deeply concerned about the possibility of having to do a deal with Independents to return to government. The Taoiseach Enda Kenny refused to rule out a deal with Mr Lowry if Fine Gael needs to make up the numbers. However Minister Brendan Howlin says they will not depend on the likes of Lowry. "The leader of the Labour Party, the deputy leader of the Labour Party, every member who have already censured Michael Lowry have made it clear that we will not be dependent on...him for support" he said. "It's not a matter of picking and choosing - our objective is to get the current government re-elected" he added.
