Local authority debt
Figures released today show that Wexford County Council is almost 138 million euro in debt. Outside of the local authority's in Dublin and Cork, Wexford had the highest loan book. Louth was the just ahead of the model county at 157 million euro. The figures, based on the audited Annual Finiancial Statements, were published by the Minister for the Environment Simon Coveney. Councils with the least amount of debt on the books are Roscommon County Council with just under 16 million euro and Leitrim County Council with just over 7 million euro.
