Marathon talks end without agreement for bausch and lomb staff
Marathon talks aimed at saving jobs and protecting wages at one of the South East's biggest employers have ended without agreement. Staff at Bausch and Lomb were informed 2 weeks ago that the contact lens maker was seeking 200 voluntary redundancies, with remaining workers facing a 20 per cent pay cut. The company had warned the Waterford plant would have to close if the savings weren't secured. However discussions chaired by the Labour Relations Commission ended without agreement. The workforce - represented by SIPTU - will now meet at 7 o'clock this evening where they will be briefed on Baush and Lomb's final position.
