New domestic abuse legislation doesn't cover all that needs to be addressed, according to Safe Ireland.
The laws come into effect today and includes a new offence of coercive control. It recognises that victims may be psychologically abused rather than physically or sexually attacked. Victims will also be able to apply for a temporary barring order even if the property is owned by the abuser.
