Striking off teachers
New rules will allow teachers to be struck off if they're found guilty of serious misconduct. Under the Fitness to Teach system anyone can report a case to the Teaching Council. Complaints found to be serious enough will be referred on to a disciplinary committee. The new system - which comes into force today - will make it easier for parents, students and other teachers - to lodge complaints about teachers.
