The Summer Solstice takes places later this evening.
Due to the leap year, it's falling on the 20th of June, rather than the 21st. It marks the longest day, and shortest night, of the year when the tilt of the Earth's axis is most inclined towards the sun. The official time the solstice will happen in Ireland is 9.51 tonight.
