Concern has already been raised over farmers driving tractors on the new by-pass.
President of the Irish Road Haulage Association Verona Murphy says Ireland is the only country in EU that allows tractors on motorway and by-passes. She says that tractors must be capable of a speed of maintaining 50km but they are not road tested or DOEd. Ms Murphy says the IRHA has lobbied to have tractors removed from the motorway, especially as they can be driven by 16 years olds without having to undergo a test.
