A special meeting takes place today as Wexford County Councillors consider a major update to the county’s development plan.
The amendments will accommodate population growth, allowing for the construction of 1,600 new homes per year, up from 1,100, between now and 2034.
Key areas like Wexford town, Gorey, and Enniscorthy will see increased zoning, while rural Wexford will also have provisions for one-off housing.
Following public consultations, councillors will review the changes, and if approved, a second round of consultation may follow.
CEO Eddie Taaffee said it will have positive implications for the county
