Wexford maternity unit not publishing data
The maternity unit at Wexford General Hospital is one of eight not publishing its safety record in childbirths That's according to data revealed today in the Irish Independent The data was obtained under a Freedom of Information request by the paper The maternity unit at Wexford General is one of eight such units in the country which are failing to publish statistics showing thier safety record and childbirth data The discovery of the eight maternity units which were not publishing such data came about following an investigation arising out of the death of Savita Halappanavar The investigation was carried out by HIQA the Health Information and Quality Authority Along with Wexford the other maternity units which didnt publish data include Mullingar, Mayo, Limerick, Letterkenny, Portlaoise, Portiuncula and South Tipperary A spokeswoman for the HSE said it would be mandatory from this year onwards for all maternity units to publish thier statisitcal data.
